It started as a question — and a hard road home.
Eric S. Shubert Jr. is an author, speaker, recovery advocate, and the creator of What's A Good Bruh? — a platform dedicated to honest conversations about sobriety, mental health, personal growth, and brotherhood.
Born and raised in Philadelphia and now based in Tampa, Florida, Eric's journey has been shaped by adversity, accountability, and transformation. After years of struggling with alcohol addiction, multiple DUIs, incarceration, and personal setbacks, he made the life-changing decision to pursue sobriety in 2025. Rather than hide from his past, Eric chose to share it.
As the author of Broken Lines, Eric tells the story of addiction, redemption, family, and self-discovery through the lens of his own experiences. Through speaking engagements, interviews, community outreach, and digital storytelling, he encourages others to ask the deeper questions about their lives, choices, and purpose.
Eric is also the founder of What's A Good Bruh Productions, where he uses video, social media, and storytelling to amplify community leaders, everyday people, and stories that inspire change. His work has reached hundreds of thousands of viewers each month and has been featured across community organizations, schools, recovery programs, and media platforms.
Whether he's speaking to students, men in recovery, community groups, or leadership organizations, Eric's message remains the same:
"Recovery isn't just about quitting something. It's about discovering who you are when you finally stop running from yourself."
Today, Eric continues to use his voice, his story, and his platform to help others find hope, purpose, and the courage to write a new chapter in their own lives.
